Richard S. Hirschland, President, Dental Systems
Richard S. Hirschland is President of the Dental Systems business for Carestream Health, Inc.
Prior to joining Carestream Health, Mr. Hirschland served in essentially the same role, leading the Dental business for Kodak's Health Group. This business includes digital x-ray systems, practice management software, and dental film and anesthetics.
Mr. Hirschland joined Kodak in 1983, and in April 2006, the company's Board of Directors elected him a corporate vice president.
His career began as an Industrial Engineer at Kodak. After serving in this capacity with several Kodak units, including the company's Equipment Manufacturing, Clinical Products and Health Sciences Divisions, Mr. Hirschland assumed successive leadership roles within Health Sciences' equipment assembly operations.
In late 1991, he was named assistant to the Vice President and General Manager of Kodak Health Sciences Research, Development and Manufacturing. The following year, Mr. Hirschland became Marketing Product Line Manager for Health Sciences' conventional equipment systems. In 1995, he became Health Sciences' Marketing Operations Director for the Southeastern United States. After serving in that role for two years, Mr. Hirschland was promoted to National Sales Manager and Vice President for the U.S. medical sales force of Kodak's Health Imaging Division (predecessor to Kodak's Health Group). Mr. Hirschland, subsequently, transitioned into the Dental business, where he has driven global growth—both inorganically and organically through participation in dental imaging and informatics.
Mr. Hirschland holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Operations Research and Engineering, respectively, from Cornell University. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is certified in production and inventory management (CPIM) by the Association for Operations Management.
